Fully compatible with road-rail systems, our rubber suspension units provide a cost effective solution at a fraction of the price of a spring based system generally favoured in the manufacture of base vehicles, from which road-rail systems are developed.
Used for situations in which a full axle could not be accommodated due to spacial restrictions, individual rubber suspension units (often referred to as split axles when used in this capacity) are supplied in pairs and are constructed to the same standards as our full rubber suspension axles.
We try to ensure that we are aware of current safety issues within the road-rail deployment – damaged rail wheel support systems, uneven loading and even wheel failure being the most common, yet our rigorous testing procedures which include finite element analysis, load deflection analysis and prototyping ensure that the solution we engineer is thoroughly tested for the specification provided, before being implemented.
We would always recommend that road-rail manufacturers consider a full-fill unit due to the resistance it provides against foregin matter ingress and the potentially harsh working environments often found when road-rail vehicles are exposed to unpredictable weather. Our semi bonded and fully bonded suspension units have a full-fill construction and are encased in a metal shell, ensuring weather and material-ingress sealing.
We understand that due to the variety of base vehicles and the individual limitations that each one brings, a standardised solution is rarely one which is applicable to many situations. That’s why we place such emphasis upon bespoke engineering of solutions. Our service allows engineers to work with us to produce a solution which fits the size, load and budgetary constraints of the specification. Our units can be made to virtually any load specification and can be made to fit in even the most limited of spaces by mixing the consistency of the rubber within them to achieve specific defection characteristics under load. This can provide a smooth and predictable damping effect over a long and maintenance free service life.
